Leaf Voter Suppression Behind!

We began fundraising against voter suppression efforts back in 2019 when I suggested to Adella of LolaBean Yarn Co. that she create a colorway to use as a fundraiser for Fair Fight Action, a new organization created by Stacey Abrams to fight the ongoing voter suppression efforts in Georgia and elsewhere.

Inspired by a pile of leaves, Adella created the colorway "Leaf Voter Suppression Behind" and we put it up for sale at Rhinebeck and it has been a big hit every year.  We thought this would be a one-time fundraiser.  Unfortunately the efforts to put up hurdles and prevent people from voting continues to grow. This year alone there are a record number of voter suppression laws that have passed state legislatures. It is disturbing and wrong to make it harder for people to vote and these laws disproportionately impact minority communities, the poor and the elderly. And a new group of voters is being targeted for suppression - young people.  That's why this year we are also supporting Rock The Vote who's focus is empowering young people to get out and vote.

For each skein sold, $5 will be donated and then matched by CeCe Tkaczyk of CeCe's Wool, and Adella Colvin of LolaBean Yarn Co.  That's a total of $15 for each skein of this colorway split between Fair Fight Action and Rock the Vote.  

There are five weights of this fabulous yarn - Soy Bean, Navy Bean, Lima Bean, String Bean, and Lima Bean.

Navy Bean is a 2 ply Fingering Weight 100% Superwash Merino, 400 yards, 100 grams

String Bean is 4 ply Fingering Weight 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon, 463 yards, 100 grams

Soy Bean is a 4 ply DK Weight 100% Superwash Merino, 231 yards, 100 grams

Lima Bean is a 3 ply Bulky Weight 100% Superwash Merino, 106 yards, 100 grams 

Marrow Bean is a Lace Weight 72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk, 459 yards, 50 grams

Remember, just because voter suppression is not happening to you, does not mean it's not happening. Don't sit on the sidelines, let's do something about it!
