Kim Russo of Kim Dyes Yarn Community Matters program releases two new yarns each month that can only be purchased through local yarn shops.  This venture brings you new and exciting yarns and helps us make it through the pandemic.

For August, Kim has chosen romance and warm colors and chose Rye Sock as the base.  Rye Sock is a superwash merino/yak/nylon fingering weight yarn. It’s a smooth and lightweight yarn which is very soft. It’s suitable for a lot of different uses, including socks and just about any other pattern which calls for fingering weight yarn. The yak is a gray color, which gives the finished dye job a deeper hue.

Each skein is 100 grams/437 yards.

The two colors are Larkspur, a soft pink with speckles of wine, green, brown and Walnut, a warm rich brown tonal.

As you start thinking about fall sweater making, these two would make a beautiful two tone striped cardigan, a two colorway shawl, striped hats or fingerless mitts.
