About the Truchet Triangle pattern:

Emily was inspired to to create a knitted version of quilts based on triangles and named the shawl pattern for the Truchet Tile, a square tile bisected diagonally into two different colors. When rotated and arranged many different geometric patterns can be formed. The pattern includes a coloring page for you to plan your color placement. Triangle modules are attached as you go so the shawl is knit as one piece with no seaming. Videos are included in the pattern to demonstrate how to attach the triangles.

This is a large shawl with a wingspan of 67.6" and depth of 30". The entire shawl uses 1800 yards.  Each 2 oz skein of fingering weight Superwash Merino contains about 280 yards, for a total of 2800 yards of yarn!  There's plenty of yarn to make the shawl or a small blanket. The pattern also includes directions to make a blanket.

About the Ladies of the Inaugural yarn:The Ladies of the Inaugural yarn is dyed in the colors that were worn during President Biden's Inauguration on Jan. 21.  First Lady Jill Biden wore a two tone teal coat, Vice President Kamala Harris was radiant in purple with a gray necklace, former First Lady Laura Bush wore periwinkle purple with black and gray trim, former First Lady Michelle Obama sported burgundy with a gold belt, and Inaugural Poet, Amanda Gorman made her presence known wearing a sunny yellow coat with a red hair piece.

Seeing a woman being sworn in as Vice-President was thrilling.  Yet while women make up 51% of the US population, they only represent about 30% of positions in state and local governments and women occupy only 27% of the seats in Congress.  As a former NYS State Senate representative I know how challenging it is for women to run for office.  And for people of color it's even more difficult.  That's why we will be donating $10 from each Truchet Triangle kit sold to "She Should Run", a national, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization working to increasing the number of women running for public office by providing them with information, resources, and support.  Our society functions better when women's voices, and the voices of women of color, are also at the table.
